Rotary Drum Screen

The rotary drum screen is a reliable classification and separation device in compound fertilizer production lines. It is mainly used after granulation and drying processes to separate fertilizer particles into different size fractions. It ensures stable and continuous screening performance, especially for materials with higher moisture content or slight stickiness.

    Feature

    Strong Anti-Clogging Performance
The rotary drum screen uses a rotating cylinder structure, which effectively reduces material adhesion and screen blockage. It is especially suitable for moist and sticky fertilizer materials.
    Gentle Material Handling
With low rotational speed, materials roll smoothly inside the drum with minimal impact and friction. This helps maintain particle integrity and reduces breakage of fertilizer granules.
    Corrosion-Resistant and Durable Structure
The drum is made of high-strength steel with optional anti-corrosion coating or stainless steel (304/316L), ensuring reliable operation in harsh fertilizer environments.
    Flexible Screen Aperture Customization
Screen hole sizes can be customized according to product requirements, enabling precise control of particle size distribution.

    Structure

    Drum Body

The rotating drum is the core component. Materials are lifted and dropped continuously inside the drum for screening.

    Drive System

The system includes a motor, reducer, and supporting rollers, providing stable rotational motion.

    Screen Mesh

Available in various apertures and anti-corrosion materials to match specific NPK or organic granule sizes.

    Support Frame

A heavy-duty frame supports the entire drum and ensures stable operation.

    Inlet and Outlet

Materials enter from one end and are discharged from different outlets according to particle size.

    Principle

The rotary drum screen operates based on rotational screening. Materials are fed into the rotating drum and lifted by internal structure as the drum rotates. As materials fall under gravity, smaller particles pass through the screen holes, while larger particles continue moving forward along the drum and are discharged at the end. This process allows continuous classification of materials into different size fractions.

    Application

The rotary screen is particularly suitable for materials with high moisture, stickiness, or complex composition across multiple industries.

    Compound Fertilizer Production

Ideal for screening NPK granules after granulation; effectively prevents damp materials from clogging the mesh.

    Organic Fertilizer Processing

Perfect for composted manure screening; easily separates large clumps and fibrous impurities from moist materials.

    Chemical Industry

Designed for bulk chemical granules; ensures gentle handling to minimize particle breakage during classification.

    Mining & Building Materials

Specialized for removing mud and soil from ores; handles heavy impact from rocks and high-moisture aggregates.

    Metallurgy & Energy

Suitable for coal and coke screening; reliable performance for sticky or high-moisture fuels without blinding.

    Environmental & Waste Processing

Essential for MSW and construction waste sorting; its tumbling action provides superior separation of mixed debris.

    Advantage

    Large Processing Capacity
The continuous rotating drum structure allows high throughput, making it suitable for large-scale fertilizer production lines.
    Low Noise and Stable Operation
The low-speed rotating design reduces vibration and noise, ensuring stable and continuous operation over long production cycles.
    Simple Structure and Easy Maintenance
The machine features a simple mechanical design with fewer wear parts, reducing maintenance complexity and downtime.
    Long Service Life
Durable materials and a robust structure ensure long-term reliable operation.

    FAQ

    1. What is the difference between a rotary drum screen and a vibrating screen?
The rotary drum screen uses rotational motion and is better suited for wet or sticky materials, while the vibrating screen uses vibration for higher precision classification of dry materials.
    2. Is it difficult to replace the screen mesh for different particle sizes?
Our modular screen design allows for quick replacement of individual segments without dismantling the entire drum, significantly reducing downtime.
    3. Can the rotation speed and inclination angle be adjusted?
The inclination is factory-set for optimal flow, and an optional VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) allows precise control of rotation speed for different materials.
