Roller Press Granulator

Roller Press Granulator is a dry roller press granulator for low-moisture fertilizer and chemical powders. It turns powder into strong, uniform granules through dry compaction. In fertilizer production, it is also called a double roller granulator or double roller press granulator. For suitable raw materials, this dry process usually needs no water, steam, binder, drying, or cooling.

    Feature

    High-Strength Granules
The double roller press granulator uses high pressure to compact powder. The finished granules have good density and strength, so they are less likely to break during storage, handling, and transportation.
Dry Process and Lower Energy Cost
For low-moisture materials, roller compaction granulation can be completed without adding water or steam. Since no drying system is usually required after granulation, it can reduce thermal energy consumption and auxiliary power consumption compared with wet granulation.
    Adjustable Particle Size
Finished granule size is mainly controlled by the crushing and screening system. Common fertilizer granule sizes are around 2-5 mm, and the final range can be adjusted according to the target product.
    Suitable for Complete Fertilizer Lines
The double roller granulator machine can be used as a single granulation unit. It can also be integrated with batching, mixing, conveying, crushing, screening, dust collection, coating, packing, and palletizing systems.

    Structure

The roller press granulator is the main compaction unit in a dry fertilizer granulation line. It mainly consists of the following key parts:

    Feeding System

Sends powder materials to the forced feeding unit evenly and continuously. Stable feeding helps maintain consistent compaction and production capacity.

    Forced Feeding Unit

Pushes material into the roller gap and helps maintain a stable material layer between the rollers.

    Roller Press Assembly

The core working section where two counter-rotating rollers compact powder into flakes or sheets under high pressure.

    Hydraulic Pressure System

Provides adjustable pressure to the rollers, allowing the machine to adapt to different materials and granule strength requirements.

    Transmission System

Includes motor, reducer, coupling, and drive shafts to provide stable torque for continuous operation.

    Heavy-Duty Frame

Supports the roller press assembly and keeps the machine stable during long-term operation.

    Principle

The double roller press granulator uses a roller compaction dry granulation process. Powder enters the gap between two counter-rotating rollers. Under hydraulic pressure, the material is compressed into dense flakes or sheets.

After compaction, the flakes enter the crushing and screening section. Qualified granules are sent to the next process, while fine powder and oversize particles are returned for re-compaction. This closed-loop process helps improve the finished product yield and maintain stable particle size distribution.

Because the process is completed at normal temperature without adding liquid, it is suitable for many fertilizer and chemical powders that require dry processing, lower energy consumption, and controlled dust generation.

    Application

    Single-Nutrient Fertilizers

Suitable for dry granulation of potassium chloride (MOP), potassium sulfate (SOP), potassium nitrate, ammonium sulfate, ammonium chloride, and similar powder fertilizers.

    NPK and Compound Fertilizers

The double roller granulator can be used for NPK, NP, PK, and other compound fertilizer formulas, especially where dry processing, formula flexibility, and lower drying cost are required.

    Mineral Fertilizer and Industrial Powders

Applicable to selected mineral powders, industrial salts, de-icing salts, and chemical powders after material testing and process confirmation.

    Advantage

    No Drying Required
No drying required for suitable low-moisture materials, reducing energy consumption and line investment.
    Adjustable Hydraulic Pressure
Hydraulic pressure can be adjusted to meet different material properties and granule strength requirements.
    Closed-Loop Fines Recycle
Closed-loop recycle of fines helps improve finished product yield and reduce material waste.
    Better Granule Handling
Granules have higher density and better flowability than loose powder, making storage and packing easier.

    FAQ

    1. Does the roller press granulator require drying after granulation?
For suitable low-moisture raw materials, the roller compaction granulation process does not add water or steam, so drying is usually not required after granulation, saving energy and equipment footprint.
    2. What particle size can the machine produce?
Common fertilizer granules are around 2–5 mm. The final particle size depends on the crushing and screening system configuration and can be precisely adjusted according to your specific product requirements.
    3. What materials are suitable for this machine?
It is suitable for many low-moisture fertilizer and chemical powders, such as potassium chloride, potassium sulfate, ammonium sulfate, ammonium chloride, NPK mixtures, and various mineral fertilizer powders.
    4. Can the machine be supplied as a complete production line?
Yes. The roller press granulator can be supplied as a single machine or fully integrated into a complete fertilizer granulation line with batching, mixing, conveying, crushing, screening, recycle, dust collection, coating, packing, and palletizing systems.
