Fertilizer Coating Machine

The fertilizer coating machine is a key finishing unit in compound fertilizer production lines. It applies a uniform protective or functional layer onto granule surfaces through continuous tumbling inside a rotating drum, combined with a precision spray system. This process enhances anti-caking performance and improves particle appearance. It also enables functional coatings such as controlled-release and nutrient enrichment. Consequently, it is essential for producing high-quality coated fertilizers.

    Equipment in Action

    Feature

    Anti-Caking & Polishing
A uniform coating layer isolates moisture and air, effectively preventing caking during storage and transportation. Meanwhile, continuous rolling and friction inside the drum polish granules, improving roundness, smoothness, and visual quality.
    High-Uniformity Spray System
Precision atomizing nozzles ensure fine and even distribution of coating agents. Combined with continuous tumbling, this achieves high coating uniformity and stable product consistency.
    Controlled-Release Coating
Supports application of materials such as paraffin, sulfur, or resin to regulate nutrient release rate, extending fertilizer efficiency and reducing nutrient loss.
    Nutrient Enrichment Capability
Allows precise addition of trace elements or functional additives during coating, preserving their activity and improving overall fertilizer value.
    Corrosion-Resistant Design
The drum interior can be lined with PP, rubber, or stainless steel to withstand corrosive fertilizer materials and extend equipment lifespan.

    Structure

    Rotary Drum

The inclined rotating drum provides the main working space where materials tumble, move forward, and complete coating and polishing in a continuous process.

    Lifting Flights Assembly

Optimized internal lifting flights continuously raise and scatter materials, ensuring full exposure to the spray and improving coating uniformity.

    Spray System

Equipped with adjustable spray lances and atomizing nozzles, the system delivers coating agents in a fine, even mist for maximum coverage.

    Drive System

A motor and reducer drive the drum with stable and adjustable speed, ensuring smooth operation under varying production conditions.

    Frame Structure

A heavy-duty steel frame supports the entire machine, ensuring stability and reliability during continuous industrial operation.

    Principle

The coating process is based on rolling and spraying. Finished fertilizer granules enter the rotating drum, where they are continuously lifted and cascaded.

At the same time, coating liquid or powder is sprayed onto the moving material bed. Through repeated tumbling and layering, a uniform coating film gradually forms on the surface of each particle.

The inclination of the drum allows materials to move slowly from the inlet to the outlet, completing coating, polishing, and discharge in one continuous process.

    Application

    Compound Fertilizer

Primarily used for coating NPK fertilizers to prevent caking, improve particle appearance, and ensure long-term storage performance.

    Chemical Industry

Applicable for surface treatment of granular chemical materials, such as ammonium salts, nitrates, and other bulk solids, to provide protective layers.

    Mining & Mineral Processing

Used for the surface modification of mineral granules to suppress dust and significantly improve flowability and handling properties.

    Animal Feed & Additives

Suitable for coating feed pellets and additives to enhance nutrient stability, prevent oxidation, and improve visual quality.

    Environmental & Recycled Materials

Used for coating and stabilizing recycled materials, such as fly ash or desulfurization products, to facilitate safe reuse or disposal.

    Advantage

    Low Breakage Design
The optimized design of internal lifting flights ensures sufficient tumbling while minimizing particle damage, maintaining product integrity.
    Automated Continuous Operation
PLC-based control enables precise adjustment of key parameters, while the drum structure supports continuous large-scale production.
    Extended Service Life
Wear-resistant components and corrosion-resistant lining reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
    Flexible Capacity Range
Available in multiple models with a processing capacity ranging from 3 to 50 t/h, meeting the diverse needs of both medium and large-scale plants.
